I don't know what the hell is going on in Washington DC, regarding health care reform. All I know is that average Americans, like myself, deserve decent health care at affordable costs. Here are a few statistics I found on the website HealthCareProblems.org
* Nearly 50 million Americans do not have health insurance, while another 25 million are underinsured.
* The amount people pay for health insurance increased 30 percent from 2001 to 2005, while income for the same period of time only increased 3 percent, as reported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
* The typical family health insurance plan costs $12,000 a year or more.
* Healthcare expenditures in the United States exceed $2 trillion a year. In comparison, the federal budget is $3 trillion a year.
* The number of people who are underinsured has grown 60 percent to 25 million over the past four years.
* Approximately 50 percent of personal bankruptcies are due to medical expenses.
So what's holding up reform? You tell me. Didn't we elect Barack Obama and didn't we sweep a bulletproof majority into Congress to TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE?
I don't know about you but I'm sick of the dicking around. Obviously the President is doing everything he can to get health care reform, but he's being blocked by frightened, weak members of Congress. It's going to fall to us, the PEOPLE, to stand with our president and DEMAND health care reform NOW!
