There is a movement afoot, for athletes attending the Summer Games in Beijing China to wear FREE TIBET t-shirts. According to the Chicago Tribune an athlete will "face no official rebuke for wearing a T-shirt that says "Free Tibet" while walking the streets of Beijing during the 2008 Summer Games.
But wear that shirt in the Olympic Village or any sports venue, and the athlete might be on the next plane home after violating the international Olympic Charter."
If you are an athlete from any country -- or anyone who will be attending the Olympics in Beijing, you ought to read the full article. It seems there's a fine line between making a statement and offending the Chinese government.

The world seems to be virtually ignoring what is happening in Tibet right now. According to the AP, "Protests led by Buddhist monks against Chinese rule in Tibet turned violent Friday, with shops and vehicles torched and gunshots echoing in the streets of the ancient capital, Lhasa. A radio report said two people had been killed."
One way you can bring attention to the Chinese oppression of the independent nation of Tibet is to display a bumper sticker or wear a t-shirt. Tibet needs to be restored before it lies in ruins. Beijing must end the violence and give Tibet back its freedom. The Olympics this summer can be a time to truly highlight this international issue, and you can help by increasing the visibility of the issue.
