HALLOWEEN TSHIRTS UNDER $20
Halloween is just around the corner! And while some people go all out and plan their costume for months in advance, others just want to throw on a cool Halloween inspired tshirt and be done with it. Especially for busy parents, a great t-shirt paired with black pants is the perfect outfit for Halloween parties, taking the kids trick or treating, or giving out Halloween candy.
A t-shirt can also substitute for or be the focal point of any costume. Some kids want to dress up as President Trump for Halloween. In that case, the t-shirt with the extra long red tie is just the thing. Since the tie is printed onto the tshirt, it saves your child from having an actual tie around his or her neck, something that can be uncomfortable and dangerous.
Some kids are too small to really need a costume at all. For the tiny ones among us, a cute tshirt like the "FRIED EGG" one pictured would look adorable while accompanying older brothers and sisters around the neigborhood.
And sometimes you just want to give a nod to the season, with a funny skeleton tshirt, or a witchy woman tee, or some other that isn't gory or scary.

Princess Diana Tribute Tshirts
Is it possible it's been 20 years since Diana, Princess of Wales, left us? It was 1997, and the 20th anniversary of that terrible day is coming up. It's hard to miss all the tributes, TV shows, magazines, and articles that are coming out now.

Opinion is still divided about Diana and her legacy. Some believe she was wronged by a husband who never loved her and a system that didn't support her. Others (with whom I disagree vehemently) believe she was manipulative and slightly deranged. Those of us who watched her life, from wedding to funeral, were witness to the evolution and transformation from an almost schoolgirlishly naive teenager to a sophisticated, shrewd woman. There's no doubt she was highly intelligent, and was grievously wronged. Loved by everyone except the man she yearned to be loved by (Prince Charles), she could have become a bitter and twisted person, but instead she learned to live life as much on her own terms as was possible under the circumstances. She forever changed the monarchy, not just by giving birth to a future king (and a "spare" - the indomitable Prince Harry) who is bent on modernizing the monarchy, but by lifting back the curtain of mystery that the monarchy used to hide behind. She showed us they were humans, flawed and imperfect, and the monarchy will never be the same.

New T-shirt! Frederick Douglass
Do you know who Frederick Douglass was? I'll bet you do. You know who DIDN'T know who he was? Donald Trump. In early February, according to CNN, "...at a breakfast to mark the beginning of African-American History Month, he shouted out 19th century abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who died more than 120 years ago, as "an example of somebody who's done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice."
Oy vey.
Our response was to design this tshirt that pokes a little fun at the President's ignorance, while making a larger point or two. It features an image of the great orator and activist, with text that reads "DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR ULYSSES S. GRANT."

RESISTANCE t-shirts
I'm going to share with you a bunch of resistance-inspired t-shirts today. I hope you like them. I've designed them specifically to wear to rallies and marches. The fonts are pretty large, so there's great visibility. I try to use humor and optimism when I can, black humor when I must, and anger when it's called for. Topics range from climate change to impeachment. All of these tshirts are available in my shop - called LOVE AND DEFIANCE - at RedBubble.
I always want to hear from other folks in the resistance! We are all doing what we can, and my contribution, in addition to marching, maintaining a Facebook action page, and being as active on Twitter as possible, is to create t-shirts we can wear as we resist. I hope to inspire and I hope my designs give life to the thoughts we are all thinking today.

The election. Ah, the election. I have to admit, after the election, I went into a downward spiral. I was depressed, I was angry, I was stunned. Still am, to a certain extent. But the anger has now become a call to action for me. I realize that I have taken my country, my government, and my freedom for granted all these years. Sure, I voted, I always vote. But I did so with a complacency that I think many other people felt. Now, suddenly, we are faced with scandal upon scandal, and a president who scorns, insults, lies and refuses to take his position seriously.

Baskets of Deplorables T-shirts
Baskets of Deplorables is an inspired phrase, coined by Hillary Clinton to describe some of Donald Trump's supporters. It's evocative, funny and has a modern sound to it. Trump's supporters, and indeed Trump himself, took the phrase and appropriated it to a certain extent. At one point Trump made a grand entrance to a rally, with the words Les Deplorables (in Les Miserables type font) emblazoned behind him.
There are also some inspired t-shirts out there, and as much as I am not a supporter of Donald Trump, I think some of the Deplorables shirts are pretty amusing. Here are just a few of the hundreds available on Amazon.com:
Should you be so inclined, you could do a lot worse than to buy a few of these. They'll be useful now, thru the election, and after the election. Ah, the end of summer, the lull before the holidays...it's quiet, there's nothing on the immediate horizon...wait a minute! There, on the horizon! A ship! A pirate ship! With a Jolly Roger! Anti Trump Tshirts for Posterity
I've been thinking for some time now that this election cycle is one for the history books. No one has ever run a Presidential campaign the way Donald Trump has. He started with no staff, no plan, no campaign office. He treated the entire campaign like a reality show, and the mainstream media was his willing aide, covering his every utterance and gesture. He had no need to spend money or acquire staff, since he was getting free air time virtually 24.7. And he understood that to be outrageous was to be given free TV time. There was madness, there was method and there was luck. Luck that the American populace has become so cynical that we expect nothing but lies from politicians.
All this is going to backfire, bigtime, for the GOP. Donald Trump doesn't care, he will land on his feet, because what he wants is attention, and he will get it from now until forever. He is the 21st century PT Barnum, and this country is full of suckers. He knows that. I'm not going to call it genius, I'm going to call it experience, because his years doing "The Apprentice" was actually HIS apprenticeship.
With all that in mind, anti-Trump tshirts are going to be something you want to tuck away and give your grandkids, as proof that this election really happened. Trust me, this will be studied from now until doomsday. We can only hope it is studied with the end goal of "NEVER AGAIN".

Roundup: Mother's Day is Coming Up! Mother's Day Tshirts
Mother's Day is coming up again! Mother's Day 2016 will be celebrated on Sunday, May 8. I used to work in a steakhouse, and Mother's Day was one of the busiest days of the year. We always put on extra staff, and ordered extra steak, and sure enough the moms and their families would flood in!
And the grandmas too. Oh, the lovely grandmas! I remember pink lace and corsages and smiling faces. Mothers sometimes looked stressed because, after all, even on Mother's Day you don't get to stop changing diapers, wiping mouths, teaching table manners, and racing arounda after unruly 2-year olds. But grandmas...they're just happy to be around the kids and grandkids.
But back to mom. I come from a big family, so it was always a challenge to buy something unique. One year I bought her some cheap perfume (I was 8, what did I know?) because it had a picture of a horse on the label and I knew she liked horses. She never wore it, but did display the bottle prominently on her dresser for a few weeks. Moms are like that. (I shudder today to think what a cologne that had a horse on the label might smell like!)
I'm lucky that my mom is still around and healthy. I know a lot of people who've lost their moms way too soon. So if your mom, grandma, mother in law, or great grandma is around, I have one word of advice: spoil. Spoil her rotten! She deserves it!
