"That" Ring, and Its Imposters

I thought it might be fun to look at the range of "Kate Middleton engagement rings" that you can buy these days. The ring, a huge oval sapphire surrounded by 14 diamonds, set in 18K white gold, was originally chosen by Princess Diana from a selection presented to her by the jewellers Garrard. Now Prince William has given it to Kate Middleton for her engagement ring.

Nowadays, there are a gabillion knockoffs in every price range available, and here are a few from Amazon.com, in order from cheapest to most expensive.

In case you're wondering, Garrard no longer seems to carry the sapphire ring, but they do have a ruby version in their "Royal Cluster" collection - no price listed on the website.
