Remembering Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter, One Year On

Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter, died a year ago today. A year ago a sting ray fatally speared its barb into 44-year-old Irwin's chest while he filmed one of his nature documentaries on Batt Reef near Port Douglas. Too young to go, leaving a family (including the remarkably poised Bindi), yet it seemed almost fated.

The Irwins will celebrate Steve's life on November 15, to be known as Steve Irwin Day. At the Australia zoo, fans will be encouraged to wear khaki, camp out in their backyards or visit the zoo for a number of special events.

You can buy t-shirts that make fun of the way he went, that mock his environmental stance, that say Crikey that hurts, but that's not what I want to feature. I'm only going to show respectful items (not just t-shirts, but books, DVDs and other things), because I think that's appropriate.
