Oklahoma Tornado Disaster Relief: How You Can Help People and Animals of Oklahoma

Following the Oklahoma tornado disaster of May 20, 2013, many people want to help the folks of Moore and other towns and cities in Oklahoma. There are many ways you can help. Donate blood locally. Better yet, donate cash to one of the many charities and relief organizations listed here. These charities are all legitimate, so you know your money is going where you want it to go. Please don't donate to strangers who might solicit, or to organizations you aren't familiar with or can't verify as legitimate. Here are eight legitimate ways you can donate, with information on how to donate:

1. RED CROSS via TEXT. Text REDCROSS (all one word) to 90999. You will have to also answer the response with a YES, to confirm your donation of $10.

2. RED CROSS via the INTERNET. Via the web, go to www.redcross.org/okc or www.redcross.org .

3. MOORE AND SHAWNEE TORNADO RELIEF FUND. Online at www.TulsaCF.org. Donations can also be mailed to TCF offices at 7030 S. Yale, Suite 600, Tulsa, OK, 74136.

4. UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA DISASTER RELIEF FUND. Donations may be made online at www.unitedwayokc.org or by mail to United Way of Central Oklahoma, P.O. Box 837, Oklahoma City, OK 73101 with notation for May Tornado Relief.

5. SALVATION ARMY: Text “STORM” to 80888 to donate $10.

7. REGIONAL FOOD BANK OF OKLAHOMA: DONATION PAGE -- you can even use Paypal for your donation!

8. HELP THE ANIMALS: Donation and Product Purchase Page for The Animal Rescue Site, which provides emergency assistance for animals in need.
